Gemini

Gemini is Google's family of models, reached through the Gemini app, Google's APIs, and increasingly baked into products like Search and Docs. It's proprietary. Gemini's calling cards are very large context windows and strong multimodal handling, so it's comfortable with long documents, images, audio, and video in one go.

Google's edge is distribution: for a lot of people Gemini shows up right where they already work. It spans the usual light-to-heavy tiers, with a deep tie-in to Google's tools as a big part of the pitch.

It's the pick when you're working with very long inputs or a mix of media, where the big context window and multimodal strength pay off. It's a natural fit if you live in Google Workspace, since it's right there in the tools.

The same closed-model caveats apply: metered use, and data going to Google. And as with the others, the tier you pick trades speed against depth.
